NJ Potteries from the 20th Century   Sunday 3 PM
by Tom Rago

Bringing the Arts & Crafts movement to our home turf, author, dealer, speaker and auctioneer Tom Rago will open our eyes to the potteries of New Jersey.  Tom will share with attendees the history of why New Jersey was important in the pottery movement. He will enlighten us on the rich clay deposits, the ease of transportation and many of the top potteries including Fulper, Stangl, Mountainside, Gort and Von Tury.  Tom will have a wide array of examples and will also help attendees identify, date and verbally appraise their own pieces.  He is currently writing a book on the Trenton Potteries and has a vast amount of knowledge on most of the smaller potteries in the state.  Tom's experience includes being a regular speaker and appraiser at the Morristown Antiques Center, over a decade of being a professional antiques dealer and for the last eight years as an auctioneer of the Stangl/Fulper Club in Flemington, NJ.
